About Us

Opening in 1981, Wanganui Enterprises is a registered Charitable Trust operating at 41 London Street, Wanganui. We offer services to people living with disabilities for work and job training, by providing work motivation and incentive to increase skills, abilities and work application.

We run a factory with woodwork and light engineering workshops.

We produce a variety of products: Dog kennels and runs, BBQ tables, trellis and garden products such as bird houses, garden seats and archways.

A wide variety of hand tools and machinery are used in making these products. Trainees / employees are supervised in their work until they are confident and competent to work independently at a task. People can move on to more challenging activities as their skills develop.

Within the light engineering section we operate a welding bay. The trainees may participate in the welding/engineering course (NZS4711) for 8 or 12 weeks.

We can take people living with disabilities who can manage their physical needs independently. We are funded to take WINZ clients who are on a benefit, although applicants do not need to be. We take self-referrals and people referred from ACC and the Health Department.

People attending are expected to work, as near as they can, as if they were in open employment. They are expected to attend regularly and practice good work habits.
